Hello! I'm Samantha! If you've found yourself here, you probably already know me. I'm the most easily pissed off person on Veav I. If you should see me, please don't aggravate me, as I may go medieval on your ass. Or you know, just argue. Please. Don't. I does beg of ye.
NeoDBZ Retro - Seeking Players

I talked to Samantha and Orion in the Veav lobby about if it was polite or acceptable to advertise this on Veav. The concensus was no, its not very polite, but if done on the forums it would be acceptable. So I'll try to both get your interest, and be polite as I possibly can in this post.

Now, for most people, the only thing in that subject line they'll see is Dragonball Z. While it is a part of the game, its not the reason to play or not to play, and here is why.

Neo is a persistant world, similar to a Mud/Mush/MMO, which takes place on a dedicated server hosted on OpenRPG. Other game like it have run in the past, including EA, MSSL, and DragonDreams. Others, like Solar Storms, are still in beta.

What makes that a good thing? It means that, any time you're just sitting around on Open waiting for a campaign to start or a friend to log on, there's someplace where you can whip out a character and test them against other players, 24/7. These games generally include their own storyline, for further fun, and are an excellent way to blow off steam and meet players.

Isn't this just competition for Veav?
Nope, and the reason for that is it IS a persistant world. Veav is a fantastic site for any and all campaigns, and I have participated in a number on the server. The game you can expect is different, and much more presonal by nature, which everyone enjoys. Retro NeoDBZ, and games like it, are extremely enjoyable only so long as they stay interesting. They lack the ability to offer a new DM with a completely new story, or set of rules, as you can find on Veav.

If Veav is so good, why not just host it on Veav?
Being a persistant world requires numerous rooms and a 24/7 active server, with logs going constantly so as to catch abuse by players when staff are not present. In addition, it would be near impossible to prevent the players from advertising in the server's public chat, just by their nature.

So.. Thats it. The server is Retro NeoDBZ, come check us out.

So we were discussing odd ideas the other day and it hit us that it'd be handy if a link in your name would go to some manner of profile that details all sorts of useful stuff like what games you play, when you prefer to play, and anything else you might want to share with the world.  Thusly, you could post a reply to this post containing all that handy info.  If all the profile posts are replies to this main post (as opposed to replying directly to other people's profiles) it'd be an easy way of browsing what kinda folks hang out here too.  So...  have at, and such.

I don't want to be banned anymore. How would I convince the Veav to stop hating me?
Server update

I've quietly updated to 1.6.3.  After some testing, fog appears to be completely broken, so I've disabled the min version thing to allow older clients to connect - in other words, the only change you ought to see is that you can no longer dick with the lobby map, which you shouldn't have been doing anyway, you assholes.
Just to be clear...

Impersonation of others IS a violation of Rule One and therefore a bannable offense.  I don't care how you do it or who it is, the alias bug doesn't get around IP addresses, I can and will find out.  So don't do it.

Dude, there's gotta be some source code for 1.6.2 out there. I'm not using Winblowz to run OpenRPG. Can someone link me up to a Linux-native OpenRPG 1.6.2? ^^
