Cancelled?

If you really want an e-mail account to last forever, I suggest you go with a big forefront company that you have to pay, because unless they go bankrupt they'll never stop wanting your business, or change the terms on you unreasonably (or they'd lose paying customers).

But it'll all become redundant when we get telepathic thought transfer helmets (which will be primarily used for spying on fit people having sex), besides which, you'll have become unable to reach it several years previously, when your spam quotient hits a gigabyte a day.

Seriously, I recommend 2+ e-mail addresses, one of which you keep for friends only and is _NEVER_ put anywhere that is publically accessible (e.g. newsgroups, sigs, "Enter your e-mail address and press Submit", registering for websites) - only ever give out by word of mouth or personal e-mail. The other one, change when the spam becomes a deluge and tell everyone you can think of beforehand. If you lose your sole means of communication with anyone, you probably didn't want them e-mailing you anyway. Friends of course will have the other address.

Rob
