okay so i just realize
Every society has a number X such that X is the size of the smallest set of people conspiring perfectly together that could completely take over the society and implement nearly any policy they wanted with limited consequences. the object of a well designed political system (in American terms a well-written Constitution) is to maximize that number X. or is it? a different political system isn't the only means of increasing X. one can imagine authoritarian kingdoms in which soldiers en masse decide to disobey the king. and america-like checks and balance systems with a violent military coup instantly setting X=1 (what the...my worst case is a Hobbesian paradise!). of course there must have been a conspiracy within the coup that set X=1, so well i dunno anyway, any attempt to prevent massive government violence or neglect upon the masses must act to increase the size of X, or make it less likely for X to conspire together. and anything that decreases X increases the possibility of mass suckage. and ROBOT LABOR is a big thing on the horizon that will decrease X! terminators don't care about due process and social justice! some ways I can think of: 1) organize people into unions to go on general labor strike/ civil disobedience whatever Mahatma Ghandi/Lech Walesa style can set X = (size of labor population)/2 + 1 (this won't work after robot singularity!!!!!) 2) arm the populace with weapons to fight an oppressive government Second Amendment/Tim McVeigh style can also set X = (size of armed population)/2 + 1 (this won't work after Skynet is activated and Arnold bots shoot everyone with chain guns or whatever!!!!!!) 3) program terminators to care about social justice and due process (well fine but that just means X = number of programmers who can conspire to change Terminator programming without Congressional authorization. Actually, having worked for the government, I really think the reason that nothing got done were I worked was because the government wanted X to be prohibitively big for any military equipment like satellite. plus this is the asimov 3 laws of robotics solution, and his dialog is robotic dialog so it must be a bad idea!!!!!) 4) distribute ownership of robot to all persons, set a max number of robots that can be owned by a single person, prohibit corportations/government from directly owning robots. e.g. you fill a factory with robots means you also need to pay a certain number of micro-capitalists. thus we can implement solution 1) and set X = (number of unionized robot micro-capitalists)/2 + 1 (this is my favorite solution but its also bizarro and inefficient so it probably wont be done and terminators will kill us all!!!!!!) okay robots killing everyone is the most important thing in everyone's life so what do u think we should do ?!!!! your opinion matters!!!!!!! 5. oh i forgot number 5 where wild robots are walking around in grassy areas like pokemon and you catch them by fighting them with other robots and throwing ROBOBALLS at them--whereas #4 is a distributed-robot version of #1, $5 is a distributed-robot version of #2! Sweet! a second amendment right to a limited number of terminators! I LIED #5 is my favorite solution! there is no parenthetical comment because this solution has no downside!!!!!! ROBOPOKEMON IS OUR ONLY HOPE....AND MY FONDEST DREAM |
