xp service pack 2 is absolute requirement--fixes many crashes, adds tablet pc features!
did you consider combining regular laptop with regular wacom pad as an alternative? not as compact or sexy, but much nicer price/performance curve
something i wish i was smart enough to have considered--if i want to type when i am away from home, not only do i have to carry keyboard (duh) but also stupid display stand, because typing with two hands means no third hand to hold tablet upright! but most tablet pcs have built in keyboard so dont worry
