By now, I am sure you know. But to summarise:
Terrorists hijacked four planes. Two were crashed into the World Trade Centre, reducing both towers to rubble. A third struck the pentagon, flattening most of one side and setting it on fire. The fourth crashed in the middle of nowhere, apparently. Either it was a strike against a classified military target or it was brought down by heroic action on board or an American fighter. It sounds like a wargames scenario. All that is missing is the troop list, the tactical map and the omniscient intelligence advisor telling you whom you are at war with. As first strikes go, it is a veritable tour de force, mortally, psychologically and economically. And remember, it is no longer necessary to invade to fight a war. This is a strike of exceptional potency in terms of economic and informational warfare: They have shown that they can strike without warning against any target in the world. Their intelligence was accurate and extremely comprehensive, and their execution of the plan was near-flawless. If their intelligence gathering capabilities are upheld at this level, no-one is safe. The economic sequelae are likewise potent - just look at the stock market. A nation does not need to know whom it is at war with to be beaten. And to win a victory by stealth is the safest way to win. Be vigilant. Rob |
