DangerousType has a good point. But: what do you do in life? How do you justify your existence? Friends and lovers are THE most important thing in this life, but... would you want to die with regrets? With things left undone? Unsaid? If these things lead you away, always keep the people close to your heart close to your life, too.
True friends are still friends 15,000 kilometers and six years away. People who love you will be content to see you doing things that you are passionate about.
This includes work. I will NOT settle for performing a job that feels like a chore. Andrea's new work must be pretty spectacular to take him away from Roma... (or so I am supposing).
And this is such a small planet anyway. Most people you can reach by a phone call, or a few weeks by post, if not instantaneously via email.
However, if the question is profit vs. life, there should be only one answer; one resounding, affirming YES to life and beauty and love and what's truly important.
