Once someone finds the UK-dictionary, there will be more "unacceptable" words. Actually, "sh" might be the interjection, meaning "Be Quiet!". I don't know. The so-called unacceptable words make the game much more interesting, and especially make it easier to end games. (Say you've just got the Q left... just drop it in front of an I and the game's over -- QI is a word in the UK Dictionary)
As for double letter stuff, all will be revealed (again) when the game becomes graphical as it once was. All I remember is this... keep it in mind when playing:
- 2X Word (H8)
- 2X Letter (A4, A12, O4, O12)
- 3X Word (A1, A8, A15, H1, H15, O1, O8, O15)
- 3X Letter (G7, G9, H7, H9)
Here's a strategy for the "newbies"... the biggest-scoring words are 8-letter words (or more) that start or end at a corner of the board. Why? Because they run over TWO triple word tiles, making the word NINE TIMES what it's normally worth!! It's not uncommon to see such a word rack up 200+ points.
Score such a word with strange letters in it (CUMQUATS, QUIXOTIC, etc.) and it's easily over 300 points.
Not to brag (well, OK, just a little), but I own the record for most points on one word from the old Scribble. The word was WHIZBANGS, and it scored 436 points I think (I have a JPG of the screen somewhere... heh).
If you weren't around for the last incarnation of the game... trust me, you'll absolutely *love* it when it becomes graphical again. It's very user-friendly and VERY addicting... :-)
