Tom, I really missed those blanks when I first started with Scribble, because I was sooooooooo good at manipulating them. BUT, please don't add them in without considering a vote of all the oldies... (and newbies of course)... no matter how much I wanted them at first, it would feel like losing an old friend - to have the game changed in such a substantial way.
It's not a matter of the game not being BETTER with the blanks, just a matter of feeling like the loss of an "old friend"
