Fact: Samurai were bonded warriors, following the code of bushido, a strict set of rules for conduct and discipline that defined honor in the Japanese society. When their master perished or fired them, they were known as ronin, and could only regain their honor by hiring on under another master - a task which was difficult, to say the least. Ninjas, however, were without honor. They used stealth and guile combined with treachery and deceit to complete their objectives, which were frequently assumed at the behest of another. Ninjas, in essence, were mercenary-assassins, scorned and feared by all... and highly illegal.
