u mean we sleep so that the bogey man dosnt eat us?! i dunno it seems like if thats the only reason we sleep then at some point a mammal with night-vision wold evolve and never sleep!
indeed according to anecdotal evidence rabbits in areas with rabbit hunting tend to become nocturnal--they start sleeping in day and waking at night. so if the rabbits are just as suited to nighttime adventure as to daytime, but they still have to sleep, it suggests replenish theory. same with cats--they seem pretty good at kill rodent at both day and night.
but i guess both are probably true simultaneous bacause i get the feeling the most complicated answer in biology is usually the right one. |
