Then a quick warm-up of exercises, light stretches, and other calisthenics. After that, it is up to the discretion of the teacher and input from the students on what to focus on for the day.
It could by any of the weapons; Escrima sticks, staff or machete. Or it could be a class spent on learning forms and self-defense techniques, or simple punches and kicks or even sparring.
After class is concluded for the day, all students bow out to the sensei and can choose to either leave or continue training using the facilities provided by the dojo.

After a significant amount of training, each student is entitled to receive a higher ranking among the other students, most often displayed with a belt.
Starting out as a white belt, you will soon progress to a yellow belt. After about 2 months as a yellow belt, you will receive a purple belt. Several months study is required to achieve the next rank of blue belt. Red belt signifies near master and black means you have, to the belief of the sensei, mastered his teachings of martial arts.
To achieve each belt, genuine dedication and attendance is needed. You will also be tested to see if you have successfully learned each aspect of the dojo's martial arts.
Between each belt is a rank with a black badge. Seen as yellow-black belt, blue-black, it shows you have been able to maintain the level of your current belt through the passage of time.
