There is definitely a shift in tone. Of course, at any given moment, I was just making whatever I thought was funny or weird (I think tobot's motivation was similar).
You could imagine the "creative process" in my head, such as it is, as the same kind of random machine as the News Flash/Purpose Statement thing. Of course Tobot did a lot of other, more ambitious projects with random text generators, and at some time long ago he made the observation that the simpler generators were often more comical--the more complicated it gets, the more it starts to look like normal, boring text.
If you think of the entirety untitled.gif as one spin of the wheel from the Universal Prior Probability, then as the randomly selected recursively enumerable function got rolling one was free to apply any interpretation you wanted, but as it outputted more bits an internal consistency emerged, for better or worse.
Then again, it's probably true that as I aged I started to appreciate internal complexity more.
