as my name says tobot I am totally the hates about IPR so I am trying to give micro$oft the finger(s) and switch an slightly older Dell system 2 Linux for
1) security
2) reliability
3) possible small-time webhosting, some small image hoasting 4 e-bay, stuff like that
I am totally willing to actually learn Linux and not just be a poser I wanna open all my .o files and bask in data or whatever Linuxland is about
So TOB: I looked about the interlands and was directed towards UBUNTU Linux release, on the grounds that it is super simple "user-friendly" release. Well, I burn teh ISO and everythings and it could boot itself into lame-o "LIVE CD LAND" of very slow cursor movements and clicking the "install" button on new faux-top DID NOT INSTALL :(
In your Dr. PhD of compumathland opinion, what is the MOST HARDWARE SUPPORT, EASYEST FOR THE FIRST TIMER kinda of a linux flavor? I am not scared to actually do some work, learn some things, run the installer in super secret "advance" mode after entering konami code so I can add extention modifyers with fancy names like -echo off and shit. But I think UBUNTU was not ready for our off-the-shelf but slighly dated compaq crap, so hardware support and ease thereof is important
ok my Unkle Phil who is also a compu DR importanto is coming by today so maybe I will ask him and if your answeres differ then you MUST FIGHT IN THE CAGE!
