Takes me 20 minutes to walk to school...

But I don't get paid much, either!

As your life becomes rich in years, $$$ vs family/home/companionship is no contest. True companionship is rare and not replaceable with bucks or ambition. Home is where the heart is (sorry, couldn't resist) and Family - while they stink after a few days of staying in your home - should never be more than 1000 miles away.

DangerousType has a good point. But: what do you do in life? How do you justify your existence? Friends and lovers are THE most important thing in this life, but... would you want to die with regrets? With things left undone? Unsaid? If these things lead you away, always keep the people close to your heart close to your life, too.

True friends are still friends 15,000 kilometers and six years away. People who love you will be content to see you doing things that you are passionate about.

This includes work. I will NOT settle for performing a job that feels like a chore. Andrea's new work must be pretty spectacular to take him away from Roma... (or so I am supposing).

And this is such a small planet anyway. Most people you can reach by a phone call, or a few weeks by post, if not instantaneously via email.

However, if the question is profit vs. life, there should be only one answer; one resounding, affirming YES to life and beauty and love and what's truly important.

And look at me, procrastinating again! If my exam on Tuesday is Digital Signal Processing AND Theoretical Perspective and Priorities, then I'll be fine...

I think im going to move to Japan someday, and be a nobody in a land made of dreams.

"Whats the word for the thing that lets you know that time is happening?" -Delirium
"Time" -Dream

and hes right. you cant just sit there, or you end up just sitting there. at some point we have to run away and learn all the streat corners again, and make new friends. but we cant adventure all of our lives. speaking from the perspective or one who is about to leave this calm harbor I am in and set off on lifes big adventure, i can say that the winds are nice and the sky is a most perfect blue.

but,
i dont pretend that there are no storms. i will be sick and hungry and miles away frome everyone and everything i know. sometimes. and then i will snap back into focuse, and see why it was that i travled in the first place.

but i have allready recognised that i have wanderlust, and that im going to die in a place where no one knows my name. i will be a passing shadow in many lives, perhaps even my own. undenyably there, but forever hazed by the unknown.

this is not an answer, but thats becuase there is no answer. its a personal event. listen to the winds, plot out your course, and decide if this trip is worth the ride. if not... another ship will come
someday,
perhaps
