That's true, but you can't actually know which number is the end. You could try them all until you find one that doesn't work, but when nodes are deleted, they leave their number free, which can make it look like there are no more, even when there are.
eg nodes are numbered 1,2,3,4 etc.
If 3 gets deleted, they'll go 1,2,4. Trying 3 won't work and it looks like there are no more. But if someone writes one later, 3 will reappear.
So you don't actually know which is newest. |
