Hi Cellular. No, it's not a good idea to change the filenames and keep both versions because every VST plugin is supposed to have a unique ID, and those will clash if you do this, and you're likely to encounter problems. We could have changed the filenames and IDs, but I guess we didn't feel like it (you have to register new IDs, etc.). The system of storing settings in these new versions is completely different and totally not-backwards-compatible, but what we did do is create a system where that will never be a problem again. We can make any kind of changes we want now and the plugin will always be able to adapt to older settings or newer settings, but that's only starting with these new versions onward. So, sorry about it causing problems with your older songs, but it won't cause problems again. All I can say is that you can either stick with the old versions until you finish your old songs, or write down the settings in your old songs and remove the plugins from them and add them back with the new versions and redo the settings (this will be very difficult if you use automation, though). Then try to switch over to using the new versions when it works well for you. |
