I've seen 'a,' 'i', 'and 'tv' used a number of times over the last few days and this use makes no sense to me. These are usually used toward the start of a game, the points are low (no kidding) and there are other possibilities for words with the given letters, so I don't see why anyone would place just these -- it certainly doesn't help with changing the tiles!
I admit I may be missing something, so I'm asking: can someone explain why they would place 'a', 'i', or 'tv' on the board at the start of a game?
