That number is the simply unbelievable score of the newest first-place Scribble game:

It almost goes without saying, but the game had all four premiums on the DLS squares -- it's virtually a must to do so in order to score over 1800. Interestingly, the longest trip was only 9 letters, not the usual 10 (or 12 occasionally).

The tile order was decent enough with regards to the trips -- the premiums were relatively evenly spaced out, with the small exception that the J and Z were on the rack simulatenously at one point. But everything worked out. I think the reason this game scored so high is because the tile order was simply fantastic after playing the 3rd trip, while waiting for the final trip word to appear. A whole bunch of 4-point tiles showed along with some vowels, to make for comparatively high-scoring "two-way" set-ups. Usually what happens while waiting for a large word is that you can only play one tile at a time, thus making a two-way set-up impossible and missing out on a large number of points. That wasn't the case with this game. Also, as far as I can tell, there wasn't a single sub-optimal play made during the entire game, which always helps.  ;-)

Anyway, I say this every time a new "best game ever" is played, but I think it's going to be nearly impossible to beat this score, let alone even approach it. I've been (eventually) proven wrong on that assertion every single time in the past, but this game is four points shy of 1850 for pete's sake!!  :-)

See ya on the boards!  :-)
