While, in theory, I agree with you that scribble was created to be a cooperative game, in practicality: it is not.
I applaud webby 5's attitude; (s)he is making lemonade out of lemons. It is all-to-often the case that the only other person playing is an "antagonist". One can either rage against the outrageous plays made (which I am guilty of, myself, in the past), or take it as a challenge. Anger and bitterness will only hurt you. I disagree with the statement that, "Many webTvers screw up the boards..." many NEWBIES (both webbie and PC alike) make the mistake of thinking this game is Scrabble. Many scribblers make the mistake of thinking there is more to the instructions than "play cooperatively". The only hardset rule in scribble is that you can't play two words in a row, but I am always breaking that rule. Come to think of it, I personally have never seen dsl make more than one play at a time. Technically, (s)he is "playing by the rules", and I am breaking the rules. If it were a law, I would be the one arrested. I am not condoning (what I consider) uncooperative play, but if that is what I am dealing with, I have to make the best of it. I cannot change someone else's behavior, I can only change my reaction to it. |
