Tom or someone else may have a different (better) explanation, but I'd say it's because the games have different objectives.
In Muddle, the objective is for one person tries to find as many words as possible in a limited time, so if an 'aid' is used the aid is finding the words, not the player, and that's cheating.
In Scribble, the object is to work together to get as high a scoring game as possible. Since you aren't trying to beat another player OR the game, you can't possibly cheat anyone/thing.
p.s. you can't possibly know that most people playing 8+ ltr words don't know the meaning of those words - you only know players by what you see them play. and I think Tom says in the game's instructions that you should try something even if you don't think it's a word - the game's dictionary will tell you if it is viable or not. |
