Hi Cole. First thing, only 2 of our plugins absolutely require MIDI notes. Those are Rez Synth & MIDI Gater. Buffer Override & Skidder are more fun with MIDI, but they will work without notes.

2nd thing: Logic version 5 will be good news for Destroy FX users. All of our plugins will work fine in that version, MIDI & all. And that update is only 2 weeks away now...

Regarding the idea about the VSTi that loads a sound file on its own & processes that, that is a good idea for working around this problem in hosts that don't support sending MIDI to effects, although there would be some annoying complications. (for example: If you start in the middle of the song, how will the VSTi know where to start off in the sound file? How could you process multiple files or regions one after the other? What if the host is running at a sample rate different than the audio file's? etc.)

But, most hosts that don't support sending MIDI notes to effects don't handle MIDI at all, so this wouldn't help for them, & other MIDI-enabled hosts seem to be smartening up, so I don't reckon that I will be creating such a VSTi, especially since Logic is going to support this stuff in version 5. I did create some workarounds for the Mac versions of BO, Rez Synth, & Skidder where basically one plugin loads on an audio track & feeds its audio signal to another plugin loaded as an instrument. This works well for now, but I didn't know how to accomplish something like this for Windows (sorry, I don't know as much about Windows programming).

Anyway, sorry, long answer, the main thing to remember is Logic 5 in 2 weeks with happy DFX compatibility!
