Yeah, exactly, it can be a bottleneck. We also support different operating systems and different plugin formats (Tom uses Windows and VST while I use Mac and Audio Units), so it's pretty important for us to have a framework that's somewhat abstracted from the OS and plugin format so that we can write once for and have the plugin for all systems. We used to use someone else's framework, but now we want to make our own, and it's a lot of work! But it will be great when we're done...
