I haven't used Cubase much, but I know that Logic can record bypass as automation.

But regarding adding a control to BO for this, basically that control would be a button that resets the DSP state, which is exactly what the bypass button already does.  So would that really be a useful addition?  I'm inclined to think that it's not useful and just clutters up the interface with a redundant, unnecessary control.

Also, call me a stickler for proper design, but I don't consider it good design to duplicate things on a customized, per-plugin basis that are basic standardized parts of the plugin APIs.  Perhaps we might consider adding this as one of the "advanced" (i.e. hidden, controlled via keyboard command) features in our in-the-works GUI framework, though...

But of course our stuff is open source so folks are always welcome to make any mods they wish, and this one would be a rather easy mod to make.  :)
