The "Hrvatski Break" example is actually mostly by someone else (named Hrvatski, aka Keith Whitman), though I assisted a little bit, so I can say how we did it. We used Logic 4 as the host, which was back when it didn't even support MIDI to effects so we had to use the weird "Rez food" hack that I came up with back then (fortunately not necessary since Logic 5, though). And fed the break beat looped that you hear in the "dry" version, and then Keith improvised some chords for a few bars. The thing that I think really makes it sound cool is that, afterwards, we automated the "separation mode" parameter on and off every 8th note and looped that, and there were several bands of resonators going per note, which made for a really nice sort of glistening robo-wah effect.
But none of this helps you with EnergyXT. And unfortunately, I have no idea how EnergyXT works, I've never used it or seen it. But I can tell you basically that, yeah, you definitely need to feed audio into Rez Synth, otherwise it has no way to produce any sound. And you need to give notes to Rez Synth, too, and then it should sound while the notes play. Those are the basics. But how you do it in EnergyXT, I do not know. |
