Okay thanks, I get it now. I think the problem here is that GarageBand does not record plugin parameter automation. With Turntablist, most of what happens of any significance is with parameter automation. Like the scratching, that is accomplished by adjusting a parameter. Without recording and replaying that, GB really isn't doing anything that's going to make Turntablist usable in a project in any other way than realtime tinkering. The audio file playback can be triggered by MIDI notes and GB will record that much, but that's all that it is recording for instrument tracks, only MIDI notes. So if you're not doing that for Turntablist (which is optional anyway), then GB records nothing.
I guess there is also the issue here that Turntablist isn't totally an "instrument" in the strictest sense. But "instrument" is the most appropriate plugin type that I can think of for it, so that's what it is being presented as. But anyway, yeah, no parameter automation means not much fun with Turntablist, sorry. |
