So here's the thing with Rez Synth: you need a host that can provide both MIDI input and audio input to an effect plugin. I don't know what host you are using, but not all are capable of this. We try to maintain a list of hosts and their relevant features here:

you can find some instructions for setting things up in most hosts that provide the needed features.
