How many web sites do you actually have?
At last count I found four: the AOL one, spacebar.org, snoot.org and the one at Carnegie Melon University. |

Binary Fiction has gotten old. Too many possibilities... I think the probablility of finding a node where there's something new and interesting has gone way down. I think we need a few new roots. |

Tom 7 has a new computer! It's being formatted and operating-systemized right now.
For you, this means that my old computer will be running snoot.org (some time next week I'll move it over) which means faster access, way more disk space, and (hopefully) an end to the random crashes. |

Now there are cool purple markers instead of the word "here" to indicate possible moving destinations in SICO. =) That's been due for a LONG time.... |

New SICO/kirby rule |

I considered a lot of ways to resolve the problem with kirbies (endgames were just taking too long), and I think I've come up with something that I like. The main problem wasn't the presence of the little blockers in the endgame (that is interesting, actually) but rather the ability to avoid zugzwang by just moving a lone kirby around the board.
Now when your last piece is captured (not counting your king and kirbies, of course), all of your kirbies die. They can't be captured, but you can't move 'em! Dead Kirbies have X's for eyes.
I intend to soon add code to detect certain kinds of obvious draws (like 2 kings), which will cut down on another annoying aspect of endgames in SICO.
Another feature is a more prominent "DRAW OFFER EXISTS: ACCEPT?" when the previous player has offered a draw, since I think a lot of people tend to ignore these (resolution set too low?). |
