I've seen you play, alpha... you're definitely much better than some of the [expletive deleted] up there :-)))
How some of the top players come up with premium-DLS trip words (i.e. when you see "DIAZOLES with an O") goes beyond anagramming -- that's all I'll say. heh. But... if you or anyone else wants, you can e-mail me (address in guide) and I'll send along an Excel file containing every single premium-DLS word (8, 9, and 10-letters) in the game. Hell, maybe I can just make a link to download it in the expert guide. "The List", as it's affectionately named, was kind of a "trade secret" last year and only given to a handful of people, but it's since become obsolete due to reasons I won't go into. ;-) But it's still immensely helpful for finding 300+ point trips. I made it myself through hours of combing the Scribble dictionary file :)
Let me know ... yes, we're a very cliquish group, but the more people that know how to play well, the better. :-)

(first off, I am not yelling ;-)
When I read that someone can't see the expert games, I know that they didn't read all the instructions, because that is where the link to the expert games is located. There are only 2 expert games.
No one is demanding 8-letter words -- except when we've gone to the trouble of setting up a triple-triple word score (better known as a trip). It takes strategy to set those up, and self-control to let them wait for an 8-letter word.
I find a good 2-letter word list (google 2-letter words) more of a necessity than The List. A great word doesn't necessarily mean a great play. A 2pt set up is often a better play than a very good word.
As to SHAY SHAY, Bad Penny and McPip, aol and others: these people are not bad players. Yes, they are bloody frustrating to cooperative players, but they do know how to play the game that they are playing and they do it very well.
AS TO NEWBIES: we were all newbies. I can remember finding the expert boards and playing what I thought was a fantastic play, only to have coz tell me that I'd ruined the game, and that it would be deleted.
I can also remember when Teddy started. After several attempts to gently suggest better plays, I got so frustrated with him one night that I said, "Fine. If you can't or won't learn to play cooperatively, then play by yourself." He has come a very long way in a very short time, because he wanted to learn. I sent him his first anagrammer (www.a2zwordfinder.com) and he became a wiz.
Perhaps if the more experienced players would first type: "suggestion?" and let it wait until a newbie replys, "yes?" then new players that are trying to learn wouldn't feel as though they're being yelled at?
I have typed in "friendly tip:" with my suggestion, only to get a rude comment back. I have never been thanked for a tip. Cooperation goes both ways.
I am ranting, yes, and I don't see any definite solution to this ongoing problem. It's hard to judge a person's tone in print, so maybe it's better to assume the other person is "saying" something nicely? and thank them for their help.
