1900 and the Quest for the Holy Grail ;-)

hehe... I put this up a couple of days ago, but look immediately below the player pix (in that section) to see how pessimistic (and wrong) we've been above the highest possible score in the past.  :-)

Obviously, 1900 is possible in theory (i.e. if the tile order was known in advance, I'd bet a 1900+ would show within a few days)... but I will now concede it's probably possible in practice too, though with vanishingly small odds. All premiums on the DLS would be a must; most likely a 7-letter start wouldn't cut it, nor would a "total trip length" (number of tiles in all trips) of anything under 34 tiles or so.

It's clear that the scores are approaching the maximum of what can be accomplished with random tile orders, though. The ratio of 1600s to 1700s games is about 1.5-to-1. But the ratio of 1700s to 1800s games is around 7.5-to-1, a fivefold increase. If we assume the same increase holds true for the ratio of 1800s to 1900s games, then on average, we should expect to play around 40 1800s games before a single 1900+ appeared. We shall see...  :-)

I will say this -- if/when such a game occurs, my 'retirement' from Scribble will be imminent.  ;-)   Because, really, once you've played a standard game over 1900 points, what else is there to do?  :)

Curt, you might be on to something here... hehe. I just completed a second 1800 game within 8 hours of the 1814 above.  :-)

This game had extremely nice tile order, possibly the best I've ever seen. And my "running commentary" chat is always good for a few laughs  ;-)
