Read the instructions/expert guide which is important to do to learn how to play and not be labeled a troll, then try this: stop using the gray keys.

Instead, in the (word) space type in the row/column where the MAIN word you want to make will start, then a dot, then the word you want to make with no spaces between them like this: b1.enter, i.e. in row B, column 1, play the word enter. If your word is to go down the column, then add a "d" before the dot: b1d.enter meaning in row B, column 1 going down, play the word enter.

Example -- say the board looks like this:
   (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)
(A) t  e  a  r
(B) e
(C) m
(D) p
(E) o

You want to put "enter" at B1, which will also make the words en, at, re. Type in the main word you want to play like this: B1.enter --  the program will know if all the subsequent words made are acceptable, and will automatically count them in your score. If one of the words made isn't accepted by the dictionary, you'll get an error message telling you it's not accepted.

Make sense? It gets faster to play this way the more you play.

After all that, I hope to goodness that's what you wanted to know. :)
