What happened to the Kirby style chess? i haven't seen them in a while. If they are gone please bring them back - as they are sorely needed around here.

Ok, the leaky boat story is just broken. I don't think it even allows me to add new parts if I want to. And how many votes does it take for a new part to be added to a story? Are both the stories just really broken? What does it take to start a new story? Does someone just have to take the time to write the first paragraph or what?

This happens periodically; not sure why yet. Try reloading!

Wuss scale
[4982] by "Anonymous" (spider-mtc-ta082.proxy.aol.com)   on Wed 15 Aug 2001 23:18:25     reply ]
Right now, the wuss scale is pretty much set in stone. Because of the mass numbers of votes, it would take over wins for a single celebrity to move up 1 percentage point. Two suggestions-
1. weigh the percentage of wussiness not just on how many wins or losses, but on who you lose to-ex, Ghengis khan would lose many points against hanson than agains Jesus, cuz Hanson's wussier. This should probably be modeled on the NFL ranking system
2. Every few months, clear all the votes, and let the wuss scale start anew (you could also bring in new and celebs at this time, and get rid of some old ones)
OR
Just do a tournament feature where every week, you get rid of 1/2 of the losers until you're down to two (this would work best using powers of two ex: 16 celebs, 32 celebs, 64 celebs)
sico: new variations
[4802] by "RedWolf" (regncache4.sasknet.sk.ca)   on Thu 09 Aug 2001 11:58:40     reply ]
I play on a number of Internet Chess Servers and they offer a number of non-standard variations. For example, Loser's chess where you win if you lose all your pieces or get mated. In this variation, if it is possible to make a capture move, you must make a capture move.

Or there's Power chess where you get 7 queens (with a King and 8 pawns).

There's fischer random where the pieces are randomly arranged on the 1st and 8th ranks.
