Oh - and another thing I'm about to begin: Learning to astral travel. (Well, consciously, at any rate - those who study it believe that we do so during slow wave sleep every night.)
Is it real? I'll let you know. When I succeed, do you want me to come visit?

From the balcony in the photo, that looks quite a large cabin! Very nice, I'm sure.
You say protecting that site is all you have to offer to the future. I say you are lucky - all around me are people who will leave behind far less. Most people offer nothing to the world at large. If you asked them they might say they are working towards their retirement (phah! Start living now!) or that their legacy is their children.
Children aren't a legacy. The way you raise them is a legacy, but the children themselves are not your gift to the world - they are their own gifts to the world, and the good they bring is by their action, not yours. The act of bearing a child, is neutral. What you leave the world in your children is the moral code and way of life in which you bring them up (provided they accept it).
A sum total legacy of 2.3 kids' worth of grey morals is a pretty poor effort.
But what do I know? Maybe Joe Grey goes out at weekends in a Zodiac, saving the whales. Maybe Judith In Accounts writes letters for human rights and animal welfare. But it seems to me that most people never look beyond the next meal.
Giving eagles to the future is a wonderful gift.

...it would have been a cool swing... maybe next time. At the going rate, that'll be... in 2014!
I've been back only a few days and I miss the waterfall, the easy-going smiles, the chatter of my (my!) creek outside my room... Telluride is a beautiful place, but I visited only the most infinitesimal patch of moutains... I hope I have the opportunity to see more. |
