no i agree.

personally, i think bombing will only make the situation worse. the problem is, the US is not a country of people who think things throuh. otherwise, bush wouldnt be president. we do lots of knee-jerk reactions. bush is riding on top of this knee-jerk reaction. now, an inteligent persident would see that he has to be seen doing something. he would pull a bit of saber-rattleing, drop the name of Bin Ladin because its one everybody would know, and then let it lose steam as americans lost interest. unfortunately, we dont have that kind of president right now. insted, we have a religous right-wing asshole who just about every intelectual (including that rare breed, the republican intelectual) hates, who honestly seems to want to start a war.

i started this thread mentioning that i dont like violence, but i can see when its necessary. i dont see bushes extremest policy as one that will help us at all.

on the other hand, i in no way can say i think america is at fault for the attacks. i know that you wernt saying this eather, but lets make it clear: in america, EVERY minority has a voice, even forign ones. even ones who, perhaps, dont really need such a loud voice. we try hard, sometimes to hard, to make everybody happy. if our economic or political actions were (are) hurting people in the middle east, i think we would listed to them. hijacking and then crashing planes into things got our attention, but by no means was it positive attention. any tollerence america as a whole might have had for listening to middle eastern problems is now gone, and will not come back for some time. i think this small, extremeist group has just sold its ethinicity down the river, as now the "sleeping giant" of the USA is gonna be in full war mode.

as i said before, i think bush wanted to pick a fight before all this started, his forign policy was very standoffish and he has lots of friends in the military. still, i feel sorry for all the poor people on both sides of the line that are going to be crushed in a battle of two religous extremes.
