yes, you are right: i think that many people who liked the trainspotting scene went to buy the album and where disappointed because the expected something less controversial. but that is mostly because they stopped listening to the track after 10 seconds. there was warning indeed.
i actually am not very much into underworld, though i remember liking the album post-t.sp. (but take care: i don't clearly remember the album, i remember i liked it)
my problem with underworld and aphex twin is that i like what they are doing but am not connected: where i live there is no club culture to speak of and this is music you want to dance to, not listen while being at home. therefore where electronic music is concerned i prefer it laid back (hey, i am austrian after all)
i think matthew herbert is marvellous. i like kemistry and storm, though laid back is not what comes to mind, i actually believe that some viennese grooves would go perfectly with last cereal. so try (obviously) "kruder & dorfmeister", try "sofa surfers", try "walkner & möstl", try "waldeck".
i have to think about the híphop stuff. i have to file a question to deep thought before i come up with something meaningful.
so far i will say: old school + weirdness = best ever. |
