Just a friendly reminder that snoot.org was brought to you by math. Love it!
Scribble - suggestion
[354] by "Bucko" (spare6.btinternet.com)   on Sun 05 Mar 2000 13:57:56     reply ]
I'd like to make my own suggestion here - I'm continually making mistakes at scribble (typing in the wrong box, missing the co-ords etc).

There's two ways I could suggest to fix this: some sort of intelligent system for "guessing" obvious mistakes (eg. directional etc) or filling all the fields in again, so I don't need to retype it (especially any chat)

Tom can I make a suggestion here? I know this may not be favorable to all the other TPs (team players) but I really think just having one "expert" board is best, the reasons, and trust me I lose personally but gain in future great TPs by explaining this.. is because IF we have enough expert boards to keep all TPs busy, we will not spend much time on the regular boards - this means that other potential tp's may never be found.. or get the opportunity that the rest of us had. I personally believe, and I think I spent more time on your board then all but a few.. that only having 1 expert board is best, if you dont agree - perhaps a compromise at 2 would work at least when tons of TPs are on a few will be hitting the regular boards :)

Tom, we really appreciate you giving us this game here. I hope you take a look, see how many of us made it back here within a week of you re-opening a year later, obviously we were majorly hooked to keep trying back that often eh?

Thanks hun** :)

Whit

ps... any chance of making the msg window where we type after placing a word slightly longer.. even one more letter would help LOL :)
Small suggestion

Tom,

With the new graphic boards, you left one thing out -- the total score for the game! Please put it back in somewhere, thanks :-)
Scribble "Expert Mode"
[342] by "Tom 7" (dentu.res.cmu.edu)   on Sat 04 Mar 2000 18:40:21     reply ]
OK, there are 3 new games which are for "experts". To access them, add 'e' to your scribble flags:

http://snoot.org/toys/scribble/?flags=e

And they will appear. These are meant to appease those of you who want to work together for scribble experiments without newbies messing it up. These games may or may not count towards the "Hall of fame"; I haven't decided yet.

PLEASE NOTE: All of the games are meant to be accessible to anybody (especially the non-"expert" ones). The game must remain a non-threatening environment for players of all skill levels. This means you shouldn't ever chastise anyone for "wasting S's" or whatever. (Polite suggestions are encouraged, of course. Exercise the lessons you guys learned in kindergarten. ;)) And enjoy! =)

Guys it's good to help out and give hints and tips to those who wish to be Team Players. But this board is for whatever each of us wishes to make it, and if there are a few who wish to see how many words they can make an hour, or how many ways they can make this game more challenging for the TPs, then that's their choice. As far as implying you can ONLY put 8 letter words down on the triples, well come on - even *I* couldnt come up with 8 letter words my first few weeks here and I wanted to get triples sometimes.

Basically - as we used to we can stick with the bottom half of the games and when those who don't wish to play the same way we do, get a word in well - look at it as a part of the challenge if you can, or at least don't be mean to them.

Tom didnt just make this board for us. :)

I KNOW it's frustrating - trust me I know. But - bottom line is they really do have a right to do whatever they wish with this board, just as we do :)

Stepping off my soap-box.

Missed you all! :) SOOOOOO Happy to be back

Whit

Tom thank you thank you thank you for the graphics :)

Now that we dont have to be rocket scientists to play a word can you fix the time limit? Used to be 3 minutes (I think?) Or was it 2 minutes? Well, unless someone else remembers differently can you set it at 3 minutes.

Also (hope you don't think this stuff is complaining, we are testers so just giving you hints here) also we used to get 25 for 7 letter words (dont think we should with 10 letters) but anyhow, we used to get 25 pts for 7 ltr words, 50 pts for 8 ltr words, 75 pts for 10 ltr words.. can you put that back again please? (if you take a vote I vote no xtr pts for 7 letter words)

Oh about that bribe... how about my pic.. it's not like X rated... but not G rated either LOL :)

God bless you... :-)
