Do you think you could put the game number on the the board, say maybe by the game score. For instance...I make my play and want to come back after next play but someone jumps in on puzzle same time I come out and i dont see my word to veryify game number because I didnt check puzzle # before I went in. Would help forgetful oldies...lol Thanks
Really enjoying this since Whit turned me on to it. I put the address in my signature mail..Spreading the word is the name of the game. Had never heard of it..Posting it at Yahoo games also.
I play there 15 hours a day when not here. Only other thing I get confused on is the blue double and triple squares
The colors are reversed from the original board game.Don't know your reason, could be a trademark thing, but still confusing. Nice creation anyhow. Thanks for the pleasure of playing.... Judi at flash.net |

Some of the entries in the hangsnoot archive are rather funny. Like if a player "gets" a word that is the past tense of that verb. For example:
68-80.mac.uaf.edu got indexed! (5 turns).
I try to submit new words that would make the archive funny. You missed target. You got missed. You missed ground. You missed appointment. Stuff like that. I think everybody should do this. |

Yep, it's me, the one with all the really hard suggestions ;) (I am actually a programmer myself - perl normally, though)
My suggestion for today is: How about some form of user login scheme, so we don't need to type our names on the Message board (and maybe for use on the other areas too) The login doesn't have to be required - it's just as easy to play as anonymous without logging on.
The only problem I can see here is that it can't be done by IP - WebTV users, for instance, get hundreds of proxy IPs, whereas anyone using the BTi cache gets to be spare6.
Something to think about anyway - keep up the good work, Tom! |

Tom ... ya know in scrabble where they have little numbers in the corner of the tiles that tell you what everything is worth ? well your new graphics (which are groovy*s*) dont include these. no need to bother adding them in though ... im sure you are busy getting SICO working.
my question is what is what worth though ?
a,i,e,o,u,s,t,r = 1 point ?
g,d,n = 2 ?
m = 3 ?
f,q,z,x,y,b,c,h,j,k,l,p,v,w = ???? |

I agree that we need to encourage the newbies, and not tell them off (too much!) for doing stupid things like is on a 3x word score, but equally they need to be told that scribble _is_ a TEAM game, so they should try to get the highest overall score, not just the highest score for them. Many times, I've done a set up, only for someone to add 1 letter to it!

Tom just thinking maybe If nothing else - at least the hall of fame games (games over 800 or whatever you set for hall of fame) I refered back to those games more times then I could count over the months I played.
the only time I ever looked at games that weren't in the over 750 category was the ones I'd missed while gone for a day.. (which was rare hehe)
So my thoughts are this (if this isnt requiring too much work)
The HOF games are stored in grpahic format. Then if possible (if not thats ok) a "recent games" section where the last 3 days games are stored... would that be alot of work?
So all games could go to the archives.. but you could have a recent games section - where the last 3 days games get stored till they are more then 3 days old.. in graphic format.
(I think I'll shut up now and start playing.. are you regretting this msg board hehe.. in the old days .. we'd give you feedback IN the games hoping you might see them.. sometimes you did.
Whit :) |

SCRIBBLE WISH LIST: |

Tom,
While we are making a wish list here. Is there any possiblility that you could make the give-up a little "smarter" like if less then 10 letters left then # of give-ups to end the game = X.
Seems to me that giving-up must be easier now since I've been in the middle of three different games (a few days ago) and it disappeared out of the blue. Someone must have hit give up one time to many. Giving up when there are tons of tiles left should be harder, then giving up when there are only a few tiles left (ie stuck at the end)
Any way you could make it so that give up could calculate how many tiles are left and if there are less then say.. 10 left it'll be easier to give up then it is now.. and if there are more then say 20 left it'll be harder to give up then it is now?
(am I asking to much.. ? )
Whit (luv you! will you marry me? :)

Another few things:
-- Not a big deal, but the archived games all appear in text format. Any way to remedy this?
I think I speak for all of the TPs when I say, "Could you please manually put in some of the 2-letter words that used to exist"?? "QI" is the number one word we miss, I think. Other words that don't exist anymore (but did at one point) are EE, ZO, and GI. I swear, these were all words in 1998. Don't ask me to define them though ;-)
