You are correct -- WebTV's system is such that your IP is only one of around four, so you will have the exact problem you described. Others have asked about this before. There is no fix, other than getting a different ISP. No offense, but compared to most ISPs, WebTV is a crippled piece of dreck. :-p
And on top of all this, you will find that a fair number of people here don't exactly have the highest opinion of webtv.net players. ;-)
