Yes, I had a baby girl on August 12th! She is our bundle of joy! Thank you for all your posts of good wishes and congratulations! My husband and I appreciated it. :-)
Ok, now for the problem at hand. If you are a new player, you're not expected to make 200+ point words on your first few games. It would be like being fresh out of medical school and expected to be head surgeon. However, if you were playing a game of Dominoes, (not the actual game, but when you set them all up painstakingly for hours in a fancy pattern to knock them all down and watch the beautiful result), and you were doing this all day and someone came along before it's finished and knocked them all down, of course you would be upset and angry. It's the same situation here. When people who have been playing for years and making 1000+ games to be proud of, set up plays for a high score and someone comes along and puts a two letter word down blocking a triple, making the point value go down, ruining all you have done, you naturally have to expect some negative vibes. This is not meant as a personal attack on you..It's actually meant to make you aware of the mistake so you can learn from it and become an expert player yourself. You shouldn't take someone getting upset at you personally, but be aware of what happened, and learn from it. It's not meant to sound "superior" or "only authorizing certain plays". It's only wanting a cooperative effort to get a total game high score. We are not competing against each other here to see who can get the highest scoring word. We are trying to help each other to get a high scoring game. Yes, there are no "rules". But common sense would tell anyone that a high scoring game is better and more fun than a low one. It would be like setting up 1,000 dominoes instead of only 2. It would just go kerplink without a beautiful display at the end. I hope this helps.
However, there ARE people out there who know how to play yet purposely mess up the game because they get some sort of sick jolly out of "knocking down the dominoes". These are the people referred to as "trolls". They have to be children because no adult can possibly be that immature. So on the good side, the children will all be heading back to elementary school soon in the Fall. So please don't leave the game on account of a few immature people. Hopefully also, the new people will learn to be experts soon and the game can continue to be the fun it's always been. Maybe I'm just an optimist. HA!
I hope to be back soon. Right now, I'm exhausted. It's a lot of work to have a newborn. I hope to be back eventually. I'm just online checking email and whatnot. I hope to see you all soon. Thanks again for the good wishes. Keep the faith.
