This is my "guess" of an answer to your question ( from years ago when I had webtv). One person has FOUR rotating numbers from their webtv area, such as: one perons plays under 3245, 3246, 3247 and 3248. Another person might have 3265, 3266, 3267 and 3268, ALL which they play under. Perhaps with each play as their number rotates to the next one as they make their plays, the board "sees" them as a "different web player with a different number."
But, since your number doesn't seem to rotate- it always seems to stay at 3122 with or without the ab, it sees you as one player with one number. So, when BP is playing and you are, the game sees both of you as one player.
When I had webtv, they only had eight input areas for the whole country. I don't know if they have expanded that by now or not. For example, if one input area covered 5 states, those 5 states would all have the same set of four rotating numbers to use and identify themselves. You and BP must be in the same input area.
Example- if Tom would ban webtv #3257, not only would he be banning that person with that number, but also every other player from that input area would be banned. ( This would happen on the webtv network when people were banned from chat rooms.) But, even if the person was banned under 3257, it is conceivable that they could still enter under 3258, etc.-- but I am NOT positive about this last point. So most chat room bans had to be made by the person's screen name only, to avoid banning everyone from a certain Webtv input area. (Of course, EVERYONE'S screen name was REGISTERED with webtv, so they could not change the name when they entered a WEBTV room.) This only worked on a webtv network of chat rooms.
I also want to stress this was YEARS AGO and things may have changed since then. I am familiar with this because I was a chat room OP there. I think this may also explain to you why Tom has to figure out a way of banning certain webtv trolls without banning a whole input area.
If hope this helps you out.
When I played with webtv, my number rotated by four digits and I was able to make consecutive plays in the same game because of the rotation of numbers- I would suspect. |
