Cooperative playing in Scribble

Tom,

You're probably sick of hearing this, but I have a question about the webTv troll that keeps messing up all the games with his infamous plays (using the u's to spoil the chance of having a U for the Q, playing 3 letter words on a trip, using the S's as fast as he can, blocking the trips with words that cannot be extended, etc):

The instructions state clearly that this is meant to be a cooperative game, so how can someone making plays to deliberatly thwart most other players be considered a cooperative player? He is most definately not a team player, and ruins the fun of your game for other players, many of whom have been loyal to this site for some time.

I know the expert boards are set up for those who want to play by expert rules, but we can't play regular scribble with this player being allowed to make the types of plays he makes. It's been going on for some time, and he's getting to be an expert at spoiling every game. How is this cooperative play, and fair to every other player?

It's frustrating for other players and it's rude/childish behavior on his part. He's being allowed to to be the one uncooperative player, and I fully understand the frustration that leads players to make rude remarks - yes, I have done it myself, although more often than not I just swear to myself and stop playing when he's around.

The last straw was tonight when someone played deepen, and in chat wrote er/s, and this guy's response was to play "ers" on the deepen on the trip, and then wrote in chat "Like this?" I know he thought was being cute, but he was just showing his uncooperative attitude.
That play really ticked me off.

I feel better having written this out, but I will always believe that letting someone continue to play unccoperatively is against the tenets of your game, and I don't understand it being allowed.

Other players, please do not start a word war in here about this player or  trolls - this is just meant as an expression of my feelings and is not intended to set people off.

Tom, you can tell me it's too bad and to suck it up, but I think you can't ask us in the instructions to be cooperative with other players one the one hand and justify this type of behavior on the other.

Game 8 (scribble)

I'd say the above-mentioned game is an excellent example of how being able to play more than 1 word in a row is a problem. I realize not everyone can do it (I can't), but webtv users almost always can (from what I've seen there are only a few others who can). Most of the time, it's to save an 8-ltr trip FROM a goonie, but in game 8, a goonie purposely stranded 2 premiums.

Is there a backdoor that can be closed?
so we can't play scribble - but Muddle's up again

I noticed yesterday that Susan put us up to 17.3% of words found in Muddle -- it took awhile, but I think people weren't playing as feverishly as we did to hit 17.2, and there were some newish players that were scoring 1 - 7% each game.

Still, good going!
problem: games won't end

Hi Tom,

It's about 6:30 p.m. EST and I can't get the last letter to take to end a game (I think it's game 9) -- archives full? or some other problem?

thanks!

if this is a game where people can play independently, and since there is an upstairs and downstairs, why is it that kelly is allowed to belittle other players?

now whether i agree or disagree with how this game should be played, i thought we were ALWAYS supposed to be NICE.

I made it more difficult for a single player to end a game. (Now all webtv players are considered the same for the purposes of giveup votes.)

Doing something about two words in a row will be harder (without making it impossible for webtvers to play together), but I'll think about it.

It looks like everything's full anytime I come here.
Do you have to wait for a turn, or try to start one, or????

Thanks.
