Confused

I love to play Scrabble, and Scribble seemed like just the game to play when I am traveling or can't sleep.  I do not understand some of the games - seems like people are trying to make the lowest scores possible - like making a two letter word the first word?
Also, I don't understand the directions in the chat.  Can't I use my own words without becoming a troll?

I didn't know that s's were so special.   U's, I can understand, but S - heck, why not use one if you can make a nice word?

Oh, and Mrs. K kinda scares me. :)

bhdonovan@gmail.com if anyone wants to explain this all to me- I was so unaware of snobs in scrabble!

i only see a white board and not the colored squares.  i copied a scrabble board but i don't think it's the same because someone just made a set up on c6 for a "j" and i don't show that as a premium tile.  maybe someone could take the time and let me know the premium tiles.  thanks  :-)  you could email me at the above address.

I just got the word "alpine" in two games just an hour or so apart.

I don't know if that makes me special, but it seemed kind of odd.  Maybe it's a sign that I'll be taking a skiing trip soon.
good scribble!

Thanks to Otto, Mrs. K and everyone else that played scribble today from about noon to 5/5:30 -- we had some really good games and nice scores, 1000+ points.

It was fun & most enjoyable!

You people need to relax. It's a GAME. Play the board that comes up. If the S's are gone, make set'ups for other letters. If the U's are gone, try to get the Q on the board. Don't read the chat if it upsets you. Play the expert rules if you want, but those rules are not official. If others want to play a different way, their way is just as correct.

Registration, it’s a good thing.

Why? Because hopefully the following will happen:

1. The majority of trolls will be eliminated.
2. The “regulars” will have to learn to get along better with others.

The knife, hopefully, will cut both ways.

You troll...you get banned.
You cuss, name call, or ridicule another player...you get banned.
You lock games...you get banned.

The fun factor isn’t just ruined by trolls wasting u’s and s’s. The fun factor is also ruined when new players are treated like, well, crap by the regulars. Being bossed around and told what to do has turned many a player away. Sure, there are nice ways to make suggestions, but that is not the norm.

If this is a game, then why is every move so calculated? Yes, a high score through cooperative play is the ultimate goal. However, telling each player what word should go where and when is not playing a game. Instead, that’s playing against a computer opponent (namely the anagram programs which give players words based on the tiles available).

Time and time again I see games with trips set up (and ruined) or ready to be set up so the few regulars can make the big scoring word plays. Now, don’t get me wrong, some players are playing and making actual high scores without the use of a program enhanced selection of words to choose from.

Then again, some players just want the “praise” from other players. They want to be the one’s to make the trips etc.. They get upset and quite an attitude when the trip isn’t played “their” way (ie. the word from the anagram software). I think more often than not, it’s the loss of them making the play.

I notice that if a webbie, col, proxy, aol, or other “no name” isp makes a great word start or trip, there is no praise. Only in a rare case is an exception made. Usually, the praise has some backhanded insult though.

In conclusion, this is my opinion. I see registration as a good thing. Makes more sense to have 15-17 registered games so the regs can play how they want and the regular folks can play how they want without the fear they will upset one of the chosen who seem to want all the control.

The trolls want control. The regulars want control. Play the gosh darn game! No drama anymore, pleassseeeeeee.

No war of words, please. Just an opinion on all the scribble drama.
