My point about methods of communication would be this: stripping back content to the bare necessities required to convey the message is fine. There is, however, a fine line between too much and not enough. A painting that needs an explanatory paragraph to be comprehensible has gone too far, in my opinion. Modern art that requires the viewer to entirely construct the meaning themselves has eschewed communication entirely; there is now no connection between artist and observer.
