You say I'm asking the wrong question, then you give me a direct answer: "A very close friendship is love; there is no functional difference." That exactly answers the question I was asking.

No, I guess it's never as simple in reality as it is to talk about. A friend of mine likes to point out that in French, it's possible to say "I love you and I'm angry with you" whereas in English we would only ever say 'but'.

All language is an approximation. And the Greeks were WAY too cerebral. I'm not talking "love discussion with a bunch of philosophers while drinking retsina and taking your servant boy up the", I'm talking practical, visceral, this-is-how-to-live-your-life relationships love.

You know what sort of love I mean. Not the love of a man for a fine cuban cigar.
