Muddle -- 17.0%
[56172] by "Anonymike™" (pool-68-161-132-11.ny325.east.verizon.net)   on Sun 26 Mar 2006 13:22:00     reply ]
Muddle hit 17% around 1:00 PM today... let's say 11 hours short of my prediction from around two weeks ago. Not bad  ;-)

Well done everybody!  :)

As far as 18.0% goes, it won't happen until around August, I'd estimate. Damn  ;-)
Muddle Delays from Hell
[56136] by "Anonymike™" (pool-68-161-65-14.ny325.east.verizon.net)   on Thu 23 Mar 2006 23:07:08     reply ]
I dunno if anyone else has this problem, but Muddle can be unbelievably slow sometimes... at least once per game, it may take literally upwards of 30 seconds to register an "Enter" press.

I have DSL, it's not my connection -- and it happens intermittently. The longest delay I had just now was around 50 seconds, wasting the whole game... while this was happening, I loaded Firefox (normally I use IE6), and it couldn't even find the DNS server snoot.org (every other website was fine).

I'm guessing this is a bandwidth issue, but it's extremely annoying. Tom, I'll PayPal you $20 or something for a fix  ;-)

Muddle Most Wanted II
[56079] by "Anonymike™" (pool-68-161-98-140.ny325.east.verizon.net)   on Mon 20 Mar 2006 22:23:53     reply ]
Just curious, what's the latest status of the most-wanted list? I'd be interested in either of the following word dumps:

a) Any words never found despite appearing over 1,000 times

b) All 4-letter words never found no matter how many times they've appeared (i.e. HUIC)

I just took care of SCUDI and FYTTE, for what it's worth. There are a ton of 5-letter words that haven't been found because they have a rare letter in them (like Z or X) and they rarely appear to begin with.
0% found Muddle game

The latest games played shows a game with 6 words, none found, as 0% found, 0 pts (game 287215)-- I thought these 0% games didn't show and/or count.
Muddle: Tom, where'd my game go?
[56030] by "alpha" (netcache-3001.bay.webtv.net)   on Sat 18 Mar 2006 16:15:25     reply ]
Hey, I just played a Muddle game, had only 3 words and I actually found them all (norm, mort and morn), still had 40 secs to go to the game's end so I left the game, but then my 3/3 game disappeared, like I never played it. It doesn't show in recent games, least words, or highest percent (which it should, last "least words" game shows as Wednesday with 8 words, highest percent found shows as 93%). I must've hit reload 8 times, thinking it would eventually show.

I've left games before without playing to the end, and they always show in the stats - what happened to this one?  Was I dreaming?

And yes, I'm only posting this cuz I did so well : )
New Muddle Stat
[55957] by "Anonymike™" (pool-68-161-125-135.ny325.east.verizon.net)   on Tue 14 Mar 2006 22:50:17     reply ]
Tom, I thought of a new statistic that could potentially be put at the top of the Muddle page. It would basically be a measure of how close the overall percentage (16.9%) is to changing.

Let A = #words currently found
Let B = #total words (found + missed)
Let P = next percentage (would be .17 here)

Then the stat, "X" = (A - PB)/(P-1) . Currently, it's equal to around 21,000 ... meaning 21000 straight words would have to be found without any misses to hit 17%.

Could something like this be implemented or am I completely nuts... heh. As X approaches zero, it would be a nice indicator of how close the next percentage change is.   :-)
