Wish I were a fly on the wall at your lecture. Better yet, wish I could be there in person. Tried to get work to send me to Telluride while FK was there but couldn't swing it. Would love to hear of his adventures there.
We have a cabin at Phantom Canyon; 8 miles from anyone or anything that staff can use. It hangs from the side of the gorge and looks directly across at a 1000 year old eagles nest that is 12 feet tall and has been used by 50 generations of eagles. Protecting that site is all I have to offer the future. The photo is me looking at them with binoculars. And yes, I'm still working with the Elders of many Tribes and, amazingly enough, finding my own voice being heard. It took 9 years for them to ask me for my opinion. Can they see it when I whisper in their ears? ~ only the burning future will tell. There are still so many good stories to tell and, lucky for me, good photos to shoot. Perhaps age does not make me wiser but it has clearly defined the things that I love - photography and conversation with good friends being high on the list. |

Rob! I thought I wouldn't "hear" from you anymore. I guess sites like LC are, after all, just like little buoys in the sea of the net.
Good to know you're still reachable by email. I tried to your old addresses with no luck, expecially because it seems that on both of them italian accounts were filtered/banished. Bizarre.
Anyway. The past lives on, although it's little more than a picture. The future has a bitter taste, and the present just doesn't exist. Where are we living? When?
Personally I don't know. My life keeps going but since a couple years I am not sure in which direction anymore. It's not bad! I had a long story, strong feelings, and my job position is excellent. I keep writing, painting, taking pictures: nothing is changed, everything evolved. Slowly, just like a stalagmite growing drop after drop, invisible to the eye.
And you? What is this lecture you gave? What are you *exactly* doing? 100 years in the future and looking backward,
- andrea

So, semi-permanence in a new city as we swap hemispheres. Am I following you, are you following me or are we just dancin'? A strange twist, in any case. (At least) three scientists of various interests in the one metaphysical space...
Anyway, I can recommend some Brisbane-interesting places to visit... and maybe we can meet up for a coffee in September/October/November...
I don't know if you've found a place to stay yet, but try to be either in West End or New Farm / Fortitude Valley. Lots of students, easy access by ferry to st Lucia (depending on where you are) and without any doubt the most interesting places to live in Brisbane. The Valley is where the music scene is, West End is for coffee, bookstores and meeting interesting people. I can recommend Avid Reader on Melbourne st, even if it is a touch pricey... head an extra half a block East to Bent Books for second-hand goodness.
Keep me posted as to how you go / what you're up to. Good luck soldier!
