Part of caring for someone is being willing to let them hurt you. If you hold back some of yourself, you will not be hurt; but you won't really be there, either. And anyone who does really care for you will of course be hurt deeply.

There's nothing worse than the feeling that you're more smitten than the other party.

Blah blah blah. This is all self-evident. What I want to know is this: what's the fundamental difference between a close friendship and a true relationship?
