I love playing muddle but where do these words come from on the word lists at the end of the game? I'd say three quarters of them I never heard of. This is a great game...I'm just curious. |

Yes, it finally happened. Tonight, Laura and I played a game whose four key DLS tiles were occupied by the J, Q, X, and Z. There is no better combination of DLS tiles than this -- it's unbeatable. View this masterpiece here:
http://archive.snoot.org/scribble/04.02/14.04.32.23-1719.html
What a nice Valentine's Day gift this was... hehe. It only came in 3rd place all-time (77 points behind 1st place!), but getting JQXZ on the DLS was one of our long-term Scribble goals. We were only 10 points away from having every trip be worth over 300 points (TRAJECTS was "only" 290). Something else to shoot for, I suppose... hehe. I invite any and all to try ;-)
That's all... just the usual narcissistic rambling. Thanks for putting up with it, Tom. :-)))

Tom, I think I may just give you the $100 prize if you can permanently fix these intermittent (and sometimes prolonged) crashes... hehehe ;-)
You can link to the Expert Guide URL on the main Scribble page whenever you want... the meat of it is done... have an update in the works, but this'll mean I can update it without having to tell you first :)

Hey Tom and anyone else interested,
I started working on that improved Scribble instructions page, that I mentioned earlier. It's primarily intended to help beginners turn into experts. Right now, it's very lonely at the top... ;-)
Even though it's a work in progress (I'd say it's only about 20% completed), you can view it here:
http://www.geocities.com/janssenchimica/scribble/
As you'll see, various small pieces of the file are plagiarized from yours (Tom's), but I did give you credit at the end... hehe. The majority of the file covers much more ground than the original, and goes into more detail.
And yes, before anyone mentions it, those first ten "random" tiles I used as an example aren't exactly random -- it's an in-joke to the existing experts. LOL :-)
You *will* be hosting this thing when it's completed... no if's, and's, or but's. hehe. Any comments, leave 'em here -- thanx.

Myself, EyesWideOpen, Laura and [Sabo]Teddy just completed a most unique game in the annals of Scribble --
http://archive.snoot.org/scribble/04.01/31.15.48.09-1287.html
First game ever with all 4 DLS tiles the same (in this case, all A's). Not bragging or anything, just noting it here for the record ;-)

We keep getting better and better... myself, Laura, and Michelle (the gleesome threesome? hehe) played a game with a score of 1796.
http://archive.snoot.org/scribble/04.01/31.00.48.26-1796.html
Our progress is like "punctuated equilibrium", for those familiar with evolution -- slow progress, with occasion huge bursts of change. :) Here we beat the old record by 81 points! Four months ago, we beat the really old record (1608 at the time) by 101 points!
The DLS tiles were KQXZ ... that's the 2nd best possible outcome, short of the magic four premiums :-)
Unfortunately for other players, my $100 offer just became about two orders of magnitude harder to achieve... hehe, my apologies :)
Tom, this game was so good, I say you put a permanent link to it on the Scribble main page... hehe, just kidding. Sort of ;-) We'd be flattered if you did it though... :)

Hey experts, some of us are still learning, and please stop and think your comments just make it that much harder for us to learn, because we become afraid to make a play because it may not meet with everyone's approval. I agree in speaking up with a constant sabotage of plays. I can't speak for everyone, but I know that I'm trying to "catch up with the pack" and become a better player. Thanks for putting up with me, and I promise I will get better with "kinder" hints. Thanks. |
